UPDATE: Galactic Cosmic Rays Continue to Rise and Human Effect

Yes, it’s me. Happy to be presenting the latest news and research as it occurs. It does appear published findings are reflective of my 2012 Equation.  Cheers, Mitch

Radiation is a form of energy that is emitted in the form of rays, electromagnetic waves, and/or particles. In some cases, radiation can be seen (visible light) or felt (infrared radiation), while other forms – like x-rays and gamma rays – are not visible and can only be observed with special equipment.

Galactic Cosmic Ray collisions in the body can be harmful because they can damage the DNA in cells. Remember, a single cosmic ray has a large amount of energy. If it collides with DNA, it will destroy part of that DNA strand. DNA contains instructions for the cell to function properly. When the DNA is damaged, the cell will malfunction. Usually the cell will then die, but sometimes it can reproduce itself. If that happens on a large enough scale, the person may develop cancer.

Galactic Cosmic radiation is a well-known cause of single-event upsets (SEU) on disruption to electrical circuits in electronic devices. It most commonly occurs with devices such as laptop computers, cell phones, and personal digital assistants. Research presented by the Heart Rhythm Society, indicate some patients with Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) who experienced ionizing radiation strikes that discharged elements in the Defib during air travel, may be attributed to exposure of Galactic Cosmic Radiation while on commercial airline flights. These cases highlight the significant impact of SEUs on ICD patients clinical and the need for further recognition and study of this problem.

NASA’s Cosmic Ray Telescope for the Effects of Radiation (CRaTER), studies radiation environment and its biological impacts by measuring galactic and solar cosmic ray radiation behind a “human tissue-equivalent” plastic.

CRaTER investigation goals are to measure and characterize the deep space radiation environment in terms of Linear Energy Transfer (LET) spectra of galactic and solar cosmic rays (particularly above 10 MeV) in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). It will also investigate the effects of shielding by measuring LET spectra behind tissue-equivalent plastic. Test models of radiation effects and shielding by verifying/validating model predictions of LET spectra with LRO measurements.

Burst of Galactic Cosmic Rays Produces Crack in Earth’s Magnetic Field

The world’s largest and most sensitive cosmic ray monitor, located in India, has recorded a burst of galactic cosmic rays which produced a crack in the Earth’s magnetic shield, according to scientists.

magnetosphere3

This is to say, a large fast moving coronal mass ejection (CME) from our Sun acting as an offensive front line making an opening in Earth’s magnetic field which then allowed an unusual large flow of galactic cosmic rays (GCR) to enter our atmosphere.

cosmic-ray-spectrum-gap

This event is unusual due to the fact that during times of high solar activity, the larger solar particles push aside the smaller but more harmful and damaging cosmic rays particles which produce high levels of radiation. Galactic cosmic rays come from outside our solar system generated from various celestial events such as exploding stars or supernovas occurring throughout our galaxy Milky Way.

The GRAPES-3 muon telescope located at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research’s Cosmic Ray Laboratory in Ooty recorded a burst of galactic cosmic rays last year lasting for two hours.

grapes-3-cosmic-ray-telescope

The burst occurred when a giant cloud of plasma ejected from the solar corona, and moving with a speed of about 1.56 million per hour (2.5 million km) struck our planet, causing a severe compression of Earth’s magnetosphere from 11 to 4 times the radius of Earth. It triggered a severe geomagnetic storm that generated aurora borealis and radio signal blackouts in many high latitude countries, according to the study published in the journal Physical Review Letters this week.

Earth’s magnetosphere extends over a radius of 620,000 miles (1,000,000,000 kilometers), which acts as the first line of defense, shielding us from the continuous flow of solar and galactic cosmic rays, thus protecting life on our planet from these high intensity energetic radiations.

It’s All True…Everything! But Not Necessarily New – Cosmic Rays,Radiation,Earthquakes

As mentioned in my last article, I am catching up on recent disclosures and it appears some scientific releases have come out sooner than I had expected. I am going to lay this out with the most recent article and then venturing backwards two or three weeks. The reason for this title is a nod to a few colleagues working under the NASA/NOAA umbrella, who have respectfully challenged my research (which is appropriate and necessary), even though uncomfortably harsh at times,  and now have to ease-up a bit since they just happen to be the source on a few items.
Note: Although peer-review can be quite challenging, and on one or two personal occasions ‘humiliating’, it is absolutely necessary to weed-out insubstantial conjecture from theory or at least hypothesis.

nasa-noaa

The first of which caught my attention is NASA’s release concerning galactic cosmic rays. This will not be news to you me, and all those who have followed my research over the last 10 years, and even further hints of such going back 21 years during my research of the Sun-Earth connection. Recent released data from both NASA and NOAA now affirming the real-time consequences of Earth’s weakened (and weakening) magnetic field is allowing extensive measures of solar and galactic cosmic rays to enter Earth’s atmosphere. I would suggest the only reason this would be considered ‘news’ is because NASA says it news.

faa

The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) is the biggest player forcing this to the front. Real and hard hitting data covering the better part of a decade, provides a daunting picture of commercial airline operatives such as pilots, attendants and frequent flyers traveling at altitudes of 35,000 feet or above. The threat is even greater for flight paths near the magnetic poles, because the momentum shielding by Earth’s magnetic field is at its weakest.

Going back to 2008, airline flight crews were currently classified as “radiation workers,” a  federal designation that means they are consistently exposed to radiation. Flight crews on high- latitude routes, in fact, were exposed to more radiation on an annual basis than nuclear plant workers. Move forward 9 years with new instruments and natural evolutionary causes, radiation exposure may have doubled.

_new_equation-2012

But increased radiation is not only a threat to high flying humans (haven’t decided if pun intended or not just yet), it is perhaps the most instrumental impetus of natural cyclical flux of warming and cooling trends which has a direct causal effect on Earth’s mantle and literally, down to her core. From here, I could jump right into Earth’s coming full magnetic flip, which as I have documented fully as part of my research, a great many of you will have firsthand experience of its latter phase, selfishly to say – I will not be one of them as it comes in the 2060’s. But hey, we all have are time in history. “I was alive and fine in sixty nine.” Uhh, that would be 1969 when I was just a baby (or so).

fluid-displacement

But there is more pressing recent disclosures I wish to address. The acknowledgement of what is being called “fracking” and its man-made ‘moderate’ earthquakes. I use the word ‘moderate’ indicating earthquakes have gone beyond 2.0, 2.5, or 3.5, now ranging into the high 4’s and being felt in multiple states. The cause of these quakes is a term I have made popular (so they tell me) calling “fluid-displacement” as the cause. Whether it is forcing fluid out, or forcing fluid in, it is the sudden shift on tectonic plates which cause the rattle. Perhaps oddly, so-called fracking had nothing to do with my original theory of fluid-displacement – it was historical analysis of both a full solar eclipse and full lunar eclipse. My research clearly showed a greater than theoretical corroboration of natural events, namely earthquakes and volcanoes, occurring  within 14 days prior to, or 14 days after the full eclipse.

More Coming…..

Side Note: Thank you to all those sending me your happy birthday heraldings. It always feels good knowing someone remembers you enough to just say “hey, you’re still around.” And for those of you who know me perhaps a bit more, it really does warm my heart. And for those of you…oh boy really didn’t want to go there…who have really shared some tangible time and space in my life…well darn it, you simply and truly brought a smile to my face, and yes on occasion, a tear to my eye.

My Two Girls Alexa and Sophia now 8 and 4

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And Of Course My Ageless Wife and Mother Elly

From high school friends and foes, to college roommates and frat bros (not sure how I feel about the frat period, early 20’s young dumb and full of – oh whatever. I think most of you who are hovering around my age will agree…the foes are few or none, and whatever time we spend together in this day seems to take on a time-warp when a few quality minutes or hours make up for years or tens of years as if we had been in touch somehow in some-way as if it were hidden along some-kind of small celestial portal…Warning, Mitch appears to be slipping into some heavy-heavy esoteric mindscape – Oh what the helion, might as well finish this thought. What if we discover there really is some factual data around ‘string theory’, bosons, and firmions.

What if there is such a place! and along the walls of this portal we see the face of our friends, foes, roommates, family and extended family. In that very moment we realize in less than a flash, every single person place and thing was tied to us from the beginning and I do mean the ‘beginning’.

I have never said this publically before. My children would at times ask me: “where did I come from.” Of course my first reaction was: “Oh honey, Alexa has a question for you.” And then she would ask: “how did you and mom meet, and why did you have me?” To my surprise, I wanted to answer this question. Without hesitation, my answer just came out effortlessly. “Alexa, me and mommy didn’t choose you – you chose us. And every single day I thank God, and you, for looking down from the heavens and deciding along with your angels that you chose us to come into this world. The days that I fail you as being your dad to help you experience the challenges of this Earthly life, eats at me every time. So every time I see you trying to figure out this world, I am too and I’ll never ever forget your first hours in this life. I would stare at you all night not wanting to miss a single second, and I might add your mom would laugh at me because sometimes I would put a mirror under your nose to make sure you were breathing. But honestly, to me during this time I knew without a single doubt you could see and speak to the very place you just left. In fact, I wrote about this experience to all the members of daddy’s work. And guess what, other moms and dads had a similar experience. So any of those times dad yells at you, it’s either something you did scares me, or I don’t know quite what to do, and sometimes I even scare myself.”

BREAKING NEWS: New Study Shakes Up Science Community Over Historic Cosmic Ray Blast

This news release goes to the heart of my research. It is as if the astrophysics science community comes clean, having hinted of the seriousness charged particles can do to our solar system and of course Earth. What I have been writing about over the last five years regarding possible scenarios based on factual historic data, pertaining to galactic cosmic rays, setting aside the short-term consequences of the Sun’s 22 year cycle apropos to the expansion and contraction of solar rays such as coronal mass ejections, solar flares, coronal holes and filaments.

electromagnetic_spectrum1

In short, (encourage you to read last 5 or 6 Science of Cycles newsletters) it is galactic cosmic rays which will usher in the upcoming magnetic reversal. It is these smaller, if not smallest charged particles as measured using a electromagnetic spectrometer which cause the most harmful effects to Earth’s core and humans.

I am placing original excerpts below so you can read the words used as to their emphasis in realizing events such as supernovae’s from our galaxy Milky Way, or perhaps even greater distances from neighboring galaxies or celestial orbs can have a profound effect to our solar system and planet.

_new_equation 2012

Research recently published provided empirical evidence of two prehistoric supernovae exploding about 300 light years from Earth. Now, a follow-up investigation based on computer modeling shows those supernovae likely propagated a significant biological shift on our planet to a long-lasting gust of cosmic radiation, which also affected the atmosphere.

“I was surprised to see as much effect as there was,” said Adrian Melott, professor of physics at the University of Kansas, who co-authored the new paper appearing in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, a peer-reviewed express scientific journal that allows astrophysicists to rapidly publish short notices of significant original research. “I was expecting there to be very little effect at all,” he said. “The supernovae were pretty far away – more than 300 light years – that’s really not very close.”

supernovae_science_of_cycles_m

According to Melott, “The big thing turns out to be the cosmic rays. The really high-energy ones are pretty rare. The high-energy cosmic rays are the ones that can penetrate the atmosphere. They tear up molecules, they can rip electrons off atoms, and that goes on right down to the ground level. Normally that happens only at high altitude.

Melott’s collaborators on the research are Brian Thomas and Emily Engler of Washburn University, Michael Kachelrieß of the Institutt for fysikk in Norway, Andrew Overholt of MidAmerica Nazarene University and Dimitry Semikoz of the Observatoire de Paris and Moscow Engineering Physics Institute.

fauna

The boosted exposure to cosmic rays from supernovae could have had “substantial effects on the terrestrial atmosphere and fauna.” Fauna pretty much means ‘all living things’. For instance, the research suggested the supernovae might have caused a 20-fold increase in irradiation by muons at ground level on Earth.

“A muon is a cousin of the electron, a couple of hundred times heavier than the electron – they penetrate hundreds of meters of rock,” Melott said. “Normally there are lots of them hitting us on the ground. They mostly just go through us, but because of their large numbers contribute about 1/6 of our normal radiation dose. So if there were 20 times as many, you’re in the ballpark of tripling the radiation dose.”

muons

Melott said the uptick in radiation from muons would have been high enough to boost the mutation rate and frequency of cancer, but not enormously. Still, if you increased the mutation rate you might speed up evolution.

Indeed, a minor mass extinction around 2.59 million years ago may be connected in part to boosted cosmic rays that could have helped to cool Earth’s climate. The new research results show that the cosmic rays ionize the Earth’s atmosphere in the troposphere – the lowest level of the atmosphere – to a level eight times higher than normal. This would have caused an increase in cloud-to-ground lightning.

avian_magnetoreception_m

Cosmic rays are inescapable throughout the universe. They can rip right through our atmosphere, damaging DNA and possibly causing cancer and memory loss over the long-term.

“There was climate change around this time,” Melott said. Africa dried out, and a lot of the forest turned into savannah. Around this time and afterwards, we started having glaciations – ice ages – over and over again, and it’s not clear why that started to happen. It’s controversial, but maybe cosmic rays had something to do with it.

New Confirmation Galactic Cosmic Rays Have Increased Intensity

Further confirmation advocating my research related to external sources outside our solar system is synchronous to our interplanetary cycles. The Sun-Earth connection, analogous to its 11, 22 year cycle reacts in congruous with larger galactic cycles of 500, 1,000, 5,000, 44,000, 100,000 (Centrennium) and beyond into (Megaannus) 1,000,000 year cycles.

milky_way_system9_m

Only the most recent research has been able to identify such events as a result of almost magical new hardware of satellites, telescopes, spacecraft, and of course the software that goes with it. You might remember an article I wrote almost 2 years ago, as I reported to you what my sources directly connected to international space agencies, had told to me. It went something like this: “New information is coming in so fast, and is challenging our known formulas, templates, equations etc, we had to shut it down (figuratively) and begin our unsettling task of creating a new paradigm.”

galactic cosmic ray chart

As our brilliant, yet mostly isolated scientific disciplines, have begun to slowly unwind data that reaches memory sizes beyond Terabytes, beyond Petabytes, beyond Exabytes, now beyond Zettabytes, and currently is filling Yottabytes.  As the slow untangling of new insights unfold, we can now see a direct connection to cyclical patterns far beyond our solar system borders and into our home galaxy Milky Way.

Memory Scale: 1 yottabyte = 1024 zettabytes = 1048576 exabytes = 1073741824 petabytes = 1099511627776 terabytes = 1125899906842624 gigabytes.

New information collected from neutron monitor measurements from the University of Oulu Cosmic Ray Station intensification of cosmic rays is making itself felt not only over the poles, but also over lower latitudes where Earth’s magnetic field provides a greater degree of protection against deep space radiation.

Earth’s magnetic field is currently weakening more rapidly. Data from the SWARM satellites have shown the field is starting to weaken faster than in the past. Previously, researchers estimated the field was weakening about 5 percent per century, but the new data revealed the field is actually weakening at 5 percent per decade, or 10 times faster than thought.

Increase Charged Particles Decreased Magnetic Field → Increase Outer Core Convection → Increase of Mantle Plumes → Increase in Earthquake and Volcanoes → Cools Mantle and Outer Core → Return of Outer Core Convection (Mitch Battros – July 2012)

new_equation 2012

In a recent study using neutron monitor measurements from the University of Oulu Cosmic Ray Station, show an accelerated amount of cosmic rays are now hitting lower latitudes likely due to a weakened magnetic field. This is cause for alert as radiation measurements have increased which could have a long-lasting effect on airline ceilings.

More on this research coming this week…………….

The Causes of Heating and Cooling of Earth’s Core and Climate Change

Ongoing studies supported by the NSF (National Science Foundation) indicate a connection between submarine troughs (rifts), Earth’s mantle, and Earth’s outer core. Furthermore, new research indicates the shifting of magnetic flux via Earth’s magnetic field, has a direct and symbiotic relationship to Earth’s outer core, mantle, lithosphere, and crust.

_new_equation-2012

As a living entity, Earth fights for its survival. If internal or external events begin to throw Earth out of balance i.e. orbital, tilt, or magnetic alignment – it begins to correct itself. When oceanic tectonic subductions occur, it cools the mantle and outer core. To balance this shift in temperatures, the Earth’s core increases heat and as a result releases what is known as “mantle plumes”. These plumes filled with super-heated liquid rock float up to the ocean bottom surface.

This action both cools the outer core and heats the oceans. As a result of heated oceans, we get tropical storms and various forms of extreme weather. When troughs, subduction zones, and rifts shift, as a result of convection, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes occur.

What makes this all work is the Earth’s magnetic field. Right now the magnetic field is weakening significantly. This will continue until it reaches zero point, at which time there will be a full magnetic reversal. Until this time, we will witness magnetic north bouncing in the northern hemisphere. Closer to the moments of a full reversal, we will see magnetic north drop down to/then below the equator.

As a result of a weakened magnetic field, larger amounts of radiation via charged particles such as solar flares, coronal mass ejections, gamma rays, and galactic cosmic rays – are more abundantly reaching Earth’s atmosphere and having a heightened reaction with Earth’s core layers. This is what causes looped reaction. Radiation heats the core layers, the outer core reacts by producing ‘mantle plumes’, which causes crustal fracturing, which then causes earthquakes, volcanoes, heated oceans – all of which cools the outer core.

This seemingly repeating loop will continue until the Earth will once again find its balance. Until then, we can expect naturally occurring earth changing events which will produce the loss of mass in some parts of the world, and emergence of mass in other parts. Maybe this is the time to change the things we can (attitude, environment, community, self, surroundings), one would be a fool not to apply themselves within their means – but then there is the time to loosen up a bit, know what is happening is just part of a process.

Just as the Earth, we humans can just keep on trucking, and maybe, just maybe, some will simply ‘enjoy-the-ride’.
